| Plan Vivo technical assistance
ECCM continues to provide technical assistance to Plan Vivo
projects and organisations interested in developing them.
The Plan Vivo System provides a framework for projects to
generate and manage the delivery of verifiable carbon credits
(Plan Vivo Certificates) from land use projects in a way that
promotes sustainable terrestrial ecosystems and rural livelihoods.
Eligible carbon sequestration activities include community-based
agroforestry, reforestation, restoration of degraded forests,
and forest conservation and management in developing countries.
Plan Vivo projects work by aggregating the efforts and enterprise
of large numbers of small scale farmers in a cost-effective
way, with the carbon finance providing the catalyst for community
action. Established standards, procedures and administrative
and technical models ensure projects are robust and the methods
for measuring and monitoring carbon benefits are rigorous.
Technical assistance, training and monitoring are provided
by local staff and international experts such as ECCM.
